Paving the Foundation for Disruptive Technologies in Tomorrow’s Digital Innovation Hubs
The Tech Hub Catalyst Program, an initiative by the HUBiquitous that ran from March to June 2024. This comprehensive program featured two main components: The IoT Certification Program and the Tech Accelerator Program, designed to empower 25 – 30 participants with cutting-edge skills on IoT.
The journey commenced with the "Train the Trainer" phase, a critical preparatory stage where two representatives from CIC participated in a blended training approach. This phase included extensive online sessions and culminated in a physical training event in April 2024 in Arusha, Tanzania. These trained experts then returned to Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement Uganda to launch the IoT Certification Program.
The IoT Certification Program officially began with an onboarding session on May 4th. This session was designed to acquaint participants with the core technologies of Waziup and set the stage for the intensive training that followed. Over the next four weeks, participants engaged in a rigorous curriculum on WaziLab covering four key units, utilizing the platform to gain hands-on experience and practical skills.
The training culminated in a two-day hackathon on June 25th and 26th that was attended by 24 people. During this hackathon, participants formed teams, developed innovative solutions, and presented their prototypes. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony where the 17 participants received their IoT certificates, recognizing their hard work and accomplishments.
Parallel to the IoT Certification Program, the Tech Accelerator Program provided the hub and participants with the tools, mentorship, and resources necessary to scale their innovations. This program offered a structured schedule that included hardware and software development, integration of Hubiquitous resources, and guidance on developing sustainable business models.
The highlight was the integration of the MVP on the Wazi Cloud, showcasing the practical application of the skills learned. Through these initiatives, the Hubiquitous Tech Hub Catalyst Program has fostered a vibrant ecosystem of technological advancement and entrepreneurial success in Rhino camp. By equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to innovate and excel, the program has laid the foundation for a thriving tech community poised to drive future growth and development.
